About the photographer

Marcin Bawiec

Marcin Bawiec (born 21 October 1981 in Jodłowa) — Polish art photographer, multiple award winner in Poland and abroad. He specialises in high-mountain photography, often made during solo expeditions and long ascents. Honoured with the titles Artiste FIAP (AFIAP) and Excellence FIAP (EFIAP) by the International Federation of Photographic Art. Liaison officer of PSA (Photographic Society of America) in Poland.

Marcin Bawiec's work is a consistent record of the relationship between man and mountain — raw, monumental and demanding — shown as the architecture of nature. He is the laureate of the Grand Prix of the 22nd Mountain Photography Biennale 2022 and has received numerous medals and distinctions in international photographic salons under the patronage of FIAP, PSA, GPU, IAAP and PSS.

His works have been awarded and accepted in competitions on several continents, including the Siena International Photo Awards 2024 and the Chamonix Photo Festival 2025 – Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

He lives in Switzerland — a country he considers the ideal setting for landscape photography and mountain expeditions. The artist invites you into a world of mountains seen not only as landscape, but as a record of a journey, of experience and of inner transformation.

The photographs shown here were made high in the mountains — in places where behind every image lies a story of passion, sacrifice and perseverance. The path to these frames was rarely easy. Discomfort became routine: nights in a tent, marches in darkness and cold, exhaustion and solitude. Time and again it meant overcoming personal fears and pushing beyond the limits of a body that begged for rest.

Every trip into the mountains was a test of courage, determination and consistency. To date the artist has completed more than 300 mountain expeditions. Hundreds of hours of walking, nights under the stars and moments of absolute silence — when nothing surrounded him but wind and summits.

It is in this world, stripped of comfort, that the most important moments were born: magical sunrises and sunsets, fleeting instants captured in the frame. Each photograph on display is a symbol of the road that leads to holding a moment still — proof that beauty is born of passion and endurance, and that the harshest conditions yield the greatest rewards.

All photographs available in the gallery are released in strictly limited editions. This is not mass production — each piece is an investment in art that retains its value and gains meaning with time.
